The First Session on “More Afghan Women in Business” at Kardan University

AWCCI held the first session on “More Afghan Women in Business” Campaign for female students and graduates of Kardan University on April 1, 2019 at Kardan University Masters Branch. Participants of this program were female students and alumni of Kardan University. This program included, recitation of the Holy Quran, a brief overview of AWCCI’s establishment, achievements and said Campaign, a presentation on Entrepreneurship and Business, entrepreneurship exercises, a panel of successful businesswomen on their business journey, Question and Answer between businesswomen and students, and at the end Networking opportunity for students with businesswomen, as well as visiting and buying from Afghan Women’s products’ Exhibition.
The objectives of this session are as following:

  1. To make female young generation aware of the new improvements in the business sector of Afghanistan
  2. To encourage female young generation, see entrepreneurship as an option and not working for others
  3. To ensure them of existence of a network of women as a support system for them
  4. To help them hear firsthand experience of businesswomen

The session started with recitation of the Holy Quran and subsequently, Ms. Afsana Rahimi, the Chair of AWCCI, had a speech on about AWCCI establishment, achievements and the campaign. She added that this session can be the beginning of an initiative in your lives. Later on, Ms. Parwarish Oryakhail, the Director of Business Development Services delivered presentation Entrepreneurship and Business and worked out the Entrepreneurship exercise with students.
Next was the panel discussion where three successful businesswomen, Ms. Zohal Atmar, President of Gule Mursal Recycling Company, Ms. Mohsena Saqeb, President of Jama design and Ms. Fakhria Mumtaz Ibrahimi, Owner of Mumtaz Host shared their business journey and entrepreneurial experiences with participants. Before closing the session, AWCCI is presented an Appreciation Letter for Women’s Economic Empowerment by Kardan University. It is worth mentioning that at the end of the session, AWCCI organized a small exhibition of women products which included Food Products, Clothing, Jewelry and Handicrafts and the participants enjoyed visiting and buying women’s products.
